A Case of retroperitoneal chylous cyst

Abstract

|
A case of retroperitoneal cyst found in a 43 years old Korean female is presented with a review of literatures.
The patient visited this clinic with a chief complaint of a growing mass in the lower abdomen. In the physical examination, a large mass was palpable in the hypogastric region, whereas X-ray studies showed negative findings. With the tentative diagnosis of a retroperitoneal tumor, an exploratory laparotomy was performed a large cyst which contained chylous fluid was removed. The chylous fluid of the cyst contained sugar, protein, leucocytes and cholesterol. The final diagnosis, lymphatic chylous cyst, was confirmed by the histopathological examination of the cyst. The post-operative course was uneventful.
